We Made It!

Unfortunately, the last day of school did NOT go as smoothly as anticipated.  The internet on the tablet went out at the most unfortunate time, kicking Ethan off from his break out room session.  It took me over an hour trying to get him back on and couldn't thus he missed his two live sessions.  He was crying, I was crying.  It was awful.  Finally, we were able to get a new link from the admin only for him to log on the last 10 minutes before everyone left.  Thankfully, his teacher has lunch bunch afterwards and he was able to get his closure then.  Oh my word.  I love technology when everything is working as it is supposed to.  But when it doesn't, it's just so stressful...especially on the last day of school.  By golly, resilient we will be!
So proud of them!!
Monkey Bread for the win!

On Friday, CES put on a parade at school where we could drive through the parking lot to see the teachers and say our good-byes.  I was so touched by this sweet gesture that I ended up getting teary seeing everyone.  Hey, maybe I needed this closure as much as the boys do, if not more.  It has been the most whirlwind three months ever and I am so GLAD it is finally over!  Now switching gears and onto summer while I figured out what we're doing.

For the rest of the weekend, the boys spent the nights sleeping in the brand new tent that we bought.
It's like a giant fort really!

What we learned to make today:

Prone to Wander

With summer looming ahead, anxieties start to build up: what are we doing this summer?  Then I came up with this amazing idea: we should find a beach rental somewhere with a pool, near a beach and camp out there for the rest of the summer.  Brian can then commute back and forth for work as needed.  Since not much is opened here, we might as well go enjoy it elsewhere.  I was sort of half joking but half serious.  But then the idea took hold and I was fixated that this is the solution to all of our problems.  We will be happy for the rest of the summer if this happens.

But then I was reminded of:
Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. Habakkuk 3:17-18
Am I simply trying to find my joy and happiness elsewhere again?  Changing circumstances do not bring joy.  Maybe temporary I suppose.  But joy has to come from God and God alone.  I'm reminded of Cornerstone Church sermon when the speaker said, "Everything in life can be lost.  Except God.  He is the only thing we cannot lose."  And that is where our Ultimate Hope and Joy come from!  Forgive me Lord.  How did I forget this already from two months ago?!  My mind is so prone to wander...

Drive-In Movie

A guy in our community put on a drive-in movie at a local park and this is where we spent Saturday night at 9 pm.  Gavin, our night owl loved it because that is when he comes alive!

Off to Illinois

Another chance for us to get out of town - this time to IL to help Brian's parents move.  Because Brian can work remotely and the boys can do school remotely, we were able to take our time driving and stay longer than normal.  We drove 7 hours to OH and stayed the night.  Then another 5 hours the next day.  This is normally my preferred method.

I felt a little bad that they had to do school while on "vacation," but they would have been bored otherwise considering the move didn't happen until the end of the week.  It was a pretty jammed packed weekend but so glad we were able to come and help Brian's parents through this transition.  Moving is not fun, but not too bad when it's not your own.  To make the week extra special, we also were able to see and spend time with Brian's sister and family as well thus, resurrected our Memorial Day family reunion!  The kids had a lot of fun!

Lots of cousins time.
