Gavin's Kindergarten Book of Honor & Noteworthy

Gavin collected another set of 10 tickets and got to go to the Kindergarten's Book of Honor again.  Way to go Gavin!

-------------------------------------------------

I visited the boys for lunch at school today and Gavin's teacher said to me, "Thanks for teaching your kids manners.  It's one less things for me to have to teach them."

Progessive Dinner Date Night

Appetizer: Thai Coconut Shrimp & Prince Edward Island Mussels Josephine @ Bone Fish Grill
Main Course: Mongolian Beef @ PF Chang's
Drinks & Dessert: Decaf coffee, Lemon Drop Martini and Warm Apple Crisp @ Cheesecake Factory
After sharing the appetizers, I was ready to call it a night because I was stuffed.  But Brian insisted on making it to the end because he couldn't pass up on dessert.  Haha.  What a fun night as we've never done anything like it...although I'm not sure I want to again.  Two word: Food coma.

Dying on the Cross for Us

By Ethan and Gavin

In Bethlehem there was a little baby boy named Jesus.  when he was older he would preach about his word.  Some people didn't like his word but Jesus kept on preaching.  One day someone took Jesus and hurt him and nailed him on a cross.  Three days later he rose again and now almost everybody believes in him.

What a glorious 70 degree day!  Went to a job interview this morning and took Kaika for a walk this afternoon.  It truly lifted my spirit.

Snow/Cold Day #4

School is 2 hour delay with possible refreeze.  They practically had another week off for Christmas break.

Snow/Cold Day #3

Sleeting in the afternoon with rain turning into ice, no school today.  Thankfully Brian decided to work from Starbucks.  It was too stressful/impossible trying to keep the boys quiet while he worked at home.

Spent the morning at IKEA and the afternoon organizing this.  FINALLY organized closets!

Snow/Cold Day #2

Another cold day, no school today.

Snow/Cold Day #1

School is closed today because of the "snow" aka dusting we're getting and the cold weather.  Only in Fairfax County are we paranoid about kids standing at the school bus stop.

Sympathy Sickness

Ethan is doing much better today but felt a little paranoid/traumatized he might get sick while at school.  So home he stayed for another day to recover.  I left Ethan at home with Brian (with a promise of an afternoon date with him), dropped Gavin off at school and hit the gym since it has been a while.  Not as soon as I got home for lunch, I got a phone call from the school nurse saying that Gavin has a "stomachache and is afraid he has what his brother has." Apparently, Gavin decided to have sympathy sickness and cashed in on my saying that morning, "If you don't feel better by lunch time, you can call me and I will come and get you."  Off I went to the school to pick him up and home he came.  Now what?

After lunch, I found Ethan crying upstairs because now his highly anticipated afternoon is ruined...because of Gavin!  So I decided to proceed with our plan.  I left Gavin home with Brian while I took Ethan to the library and let him read his little heart out.  Then we headed to Tropical Smoothie Cafe and split a yummy smoothie!  His love tank was definitely full after that =0)  He may have had a slight stomachache but from the way he was running around the house, I'm pretty sure he was sick with a "I-didn't-want-to-be-at-school-if-my-brother-isn't-either."

Happy 2018!

So, Brian and I stayed up to watch the ball drop on TV and as we kissed at midnight, I heard footsteps coming down the stairs followed by Ethan saying, "Mommy?  I threw up."  That was literally how we rang in the New Years.  Poor kid.  Somehow he had caught the stomach bug and threw up every two hour through the morning.  We usually don't get this stuff so I've never seen him so miserable.  Thankfully it only lasted 24 hour and no one else got it.
