I overheard this conversation between Ethan and Gavin in the car and it made me teary with joy:
Ethan: Gavin, you have to accept Jesus into your heart okay or else we won't see each other (in heaven).
Gavin (not sure what big brother is talking about): A-ha.
Ethan: So, do you accept Jesus into your heart? Yes or no, Gavin? YES or NO?
Gavin (just being agreeable): A-ha.
Along with that, Ethan started going to church early on Sunday morning with Brian to help set up. At first, I wasn't sure if he just wanted to be rewarded with candy from the welcome table. But honestly, I think he enjoyed the time spent with Brian and just really has the heart to serve.

Little Evangelist
It turns out that we have our very own five year old little evangelist and didn't even know it. Apparently when our friend took Ethan and Gavin off our hands the week before moving, Ethan had gotten in their van and immediate started asking his three friends (who are our pastor's kids) questions. Whether or not they have accepted Jesus into their hearts. If not, why not? Then proceeded to tell them about heaven & hell. And how there is fire in hell where you will be burn forever and ever. Well, we have a very curious child who asks a lot of questions and wants to know about anything and everything. So to put into a simple terms, that is what I told him. And apparently what he had told his friends...and maybe had scared them a little. Opps, not exactly what I had in mind. So we're now working on focusing more on God's love and the positive side of heaven.
Anyway, I witnessed this again two more times - once with his friend from church who we met for a quick lunch and once with his non-church attending neighbor/preschool friend. He just really has a heart for these people and honestly just wants them all to go to heaven with him. And through all this God has used it not only to spur me on for his Kingdom but also to humble me.
So back to the story about the neighbor/preschool girl who we see her and her family quite often. Ethan has been wanting to invite her to church so I kept telling him to do so (thinking in my head, I doubt she'll come). Great faith right? So he did a few times and of course nothing happened because it was a lot of info for her to remember. Then I felt the tug from the spirit to talk to her parents and start that "spiritual" convo which I didn't necessarily wanted to. But out of obedience, I first did to her dad. Then a few weeks later to her mom. Lo and behold, one Saturday she called me out of the blue to see if I could give her daughter a ride to church because she wanted to go with Ethan. Talk about a total humble moment. The saddest part is that we moved away and don't see each other as much anymore. But I definitely need to follow up with the church info in case they all want to come and check it out someday. Well that goes to show even little people can be an evangelist for Christ and I guess that is his gift. So proud!

Just For Laughs
A conversation with my logical son:
Ethan: We don't know when we'll go to heaven like we don't know when Uncle Ryan comes home every night.
Me: Interesting comparison, but I guess you're right.
Ethan: What if Jesus comes back to take me and I don't have time to write you a note?
Me: Um, do you even know how to write a note?
Ethan: No. Oh I know, maybe you'll be up (in the morning) and then you can write Daddy a note to let him know where I went.
Me: Okay, sounds good Buddy!
