"Twittering" on Blog
Our wooden blinds have arrived and Brian worked all morning on getting them up! Then we're off to a birthday party and hitting the pool for the first time this year. What a fun day!

Great is Thy Faithfulness
It's hard to believe we've been in our new house for a year now and all the work/repairs we've done. As I looked back on the craziness of the break in, the deep cleaning and the moving in, I'm so glad that I wrote it all down so I could remember God's faithfulness to our family every step of the way.

At this point, the first two levels have been painted. Now we just have the basement, doors and some trim to do.
p.s. One trick we had discovered while painting this house is that if you're not done with your painting project, you can store the brush (in a ziplock bag) and the roller & tray in a garage bag. It'll keep for a few days without drying out and you can continue painting without having to wash everything (which is such a pain in and of itself). Who knew!

If you noticed in this last picture, the living room/dining room area* is partially painted. Well by the end of the day, it was done! Just in time to go on a date night at Plaza Azteca in Sterling. Despite the Iowa-like blizzard condition (haha), we still had a fun night!

On a different note, this Valentine's I'm strongly gripped by God's love for me. I kept thinking of this verse from Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrated his own love for in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" and coming to understand the depth and extent of what it means through the BSF's Life of Moses study this year. For that I am so thankful.

Master Bathroom
The good news: we got one more room done! The master bathroom is now painted with Behr match to Benjamin Moore Rockport Gray in Satin. The bad news: unfortunately, we broke a big vanity mirror in the process. Next on the list: new bathroom mirrors.

Catching Up Time
It has been a while so here are some new happenings from us:
Brian recently ran in the Army Ten-Miler race which took place in downtown DC. It started at the Pentagon, through several Memorials, over two bridges and then ended up back at the Pentagon. Sounded like a really neat race and I wish the boys and I could have been there. But that would have been too much to bring them with the huge spectator crowd plus I was needed at the church that Sunday. Maybe next year. This is the first race Brian had entered since Gavin was born so I thought he would get his competitive streak on. But to my surprise he stayed and ran with a friend the whole time and didn't leave him in the dust which is so unusual of him. No man left behind, right? Haha pun intended.
We had TWO date nights this weekend which was amazing! On Friday night, we did a double date with Ryan and Su and went to a friend's house for a bonfire and I mean one of those real, gigantic ones...not the tiny pit fire we've been having. I don't know what it is, but I just LOVE sitting by a fire. It was a lot of fun and just reminded me of the "carefree" college days. I could have stayed there all night but the other early birds were tired and wanted to go home. Such party poopers!
Saturday morning Ethan and I went to his school to volunteer for the Backpack Program. We helped pack 1,000 ziplock bags with cereal, juice boxes, ramen noodles, fruit cups, granola bars and easy mac which are distributed to the children with needs. They are given to them in their backpacks (hence the name) every Friday so that they and their family have something to eat over the weekend. What a neat program! We had fun and I'm so glad for the opportunity to serve as it is something I've been wanting to do (for myself and the boys) but couldn't previously since they were too young. It is also a way for me to incorporate the "thankful heart" legacy that I had mentioned in a previous post.
Then that night, Ryan and Su watched the boys so we could go on date #2 at La Tagliatella in Claridon. Later we ended up at Cheesecake Factory for dessert and a glass of wine. What a great night! Now my love tank is full =0)
Sunday afternoon while Brian took the boys to the carwash, I decided on a spur to paint Gavin's room. So I did two coats of cutting in that night and Brian came home early Monday to finish rolling. His accent wall is Behr match to Benjamin Moore Van Deusen Blue in Eggshell. The rest of the walls are Behr match to Benjamin Moore Polar Frost in Eggshell. So that is done! In November we decided to do the master bedroom and bathroom (instead of the front room) since they're in desperate need of fresh paint.

Painting Projects
So I thought I hated painting but after doing 4 rooms (out of 12) in our new house, I'm realizing that it really isn't too bad. In fact, I find it kind of relaxing when the kids aren't around. Thanks to these youtube tutorial videos on cutting in and rolling, Brian and I mastered a method that make the process go quicker for us. I'll do two coats of cutting in with this amazing brush you'll ever need and Brian will roll two coats and then we're done. I must say that what I find worse than painting though is picking out the colors. What a stressful process! The color the I choose from that little swatch never turns out the exact color that I had envisioned on the wall. You know what I'm talking about right? But at that point, I guess we just have to live with it.
Anyway, so thankful that my parents did so much work in our house back in May that we've been able to focus just on painting. In order not to get overwhelmed by how much we have to paint, I've decided to do one room a month.

Mission Accomplished!
During the three weeks visit, my parents (and the boys) did a lot.
They worked hard:

All in all, they did AMAZAING amount of work in such a short amount of time and we're so thankful for all the help!!! It seriously would have taken us (with kids) on nights and weekends over a year to accomplish what they did. And the best part was getting to celebrate my mom's birthday/retirement with her before they left.

Check it
So the other day, I was Googling an address trying to figure out how to get somewhere from our house when I saw this picture and I froze. I'm 99.9% sure that that black truck outside our house is the one both Brian and I saw that Sunday which I blogged about here. Anyway, many thoughts went through my mind...whether the owner of that truck is a friend of the previous owners, if he was actually the one who broke into the house or not, etc. Not a good feeling. Brian contacted the police with the info but so far haven't heard anything yet so we'll see.

Our New Home
Moving day went as smoothly as possible - thanks to Brian's two days loading plan, the awesome guys from church and Brian's parents. Most of the stuff are at the new house now, but Brian still has to stop by after work everyday to get a "Pilot" load of all the random/miscellaneous items. We're minimalists so I'm not sure where all this junk comes from, but I guess that only means more purging. Such an easier move this time around considering it was local and I didn't just have a baby.
Anyway, this whole time I wouldn't let myself get excited until we have officially moved in. However, now that we're here I'm still not feeling it. The whole process has been so overwhelming and of course the packing and moving itself. Then the nuance little things that add up like dripping faucets/shower/sink, leaking roof, and the lovely squirrels that apparently has been living in our attic. The new washer and dryer were supposed to get delivered yesterday, but for some reason my order didn't go through so now they're on backorder for another two weeks. So for the moment I'm living with a leaky washer and a dryer door that doesn't stay shut. And tonight, add on a flaky garage door opener and apparently the dishwasher decided to break. Ugh, so annoying when things don't work right. I hate to be such a complainer, but we were definitely spoiled with our Davenport house where it was immaculate and moved in ready. Oh did I mention I had horrible allergy and also came down with the flu this week from going a little too gunk-ho with trying to get out of boxes?! Meanwhile I'm trying to find joy in the moment despite the chaos and crazy boys, but it has definitely been rough. Then I had a break down. Last night. At 11 o'clock. I guess the emotions of everything finally caught up to me.
I guess we're all going through lots of changes and dealing it in our own ways. Thankfully Gavin has now stopped screaming at nap/bed time. But he's still crying and protesting for the other parent right before bed. It's an improvement so we'll definitely take it. Kaika went through an ordeal himself where he wouldn't eat for like 3 days and just roamed around like a misplaced puppy. He's okay now but I think missing the fenced in backyard. Ethan is probably doing the best of all of us. The moving didn't seemed to faze him other than throwing his sleep schedule off a little. He has been asking to take a nap every afternoon which is fine with me since it's Spring Break. Other than that, he has been a super helpful brother especially with Gavin's tantrum. He seemed to have a way to talk him through things without getting frustrated like I do. Such a sweet soul.
On a happier note, we caught the squirrel (with this contraption thanks to Brian's coworker)! Then we literally drove 10 miles to release the dumb thing. Hoping for a peaceful night sleep with no more baby squirrels in the attic. Afterwards we went out to get some fro-yo and celebrate.
Ethan thought he was cute and wanted to keep it. We said NO!
